We’re excited to announce Shi Odom, Branch Manager at the Carteret County Public Library in Beaufort, as the Jaime Hicks Long Employee of the Month for April 2024! Shi has been an important part of our library system for 13 years, demonstrating exceptional dedication and expertise in her role.
As Branch Manager, Shi oversees the daily operations of the library, assisting patrons in finding information, books, and movies, and providing support with computers, fax, and copy machines. Her extensive experience shines through in her depth of knowledge on a wide range of topics, making her the go-to person at the Beaufort branch.
Shi's creativity is evident in everything she does, as demonstrated by her recent "yarn art" library program. She created beautiful yarn displays on canvas, showcasing her innovative ideas and dedication to improving our library's offerings.
Shi's dedication extends beyond her role as Branch Manager. She goes above and beyond to assist patrons, as seen in her dedication to helping a visitor trace their family history in the area. Shi exhaustively researched various sources, including microfilm newspapers, reference books, online databases, and even reaching out to the local museum to ensure the patron received assistance.
