Carteret County Schools and the Carteret County Public Library are partnering to support students’ ongoing education. We share the belief that a love of books and learning is a strong foundation for student success and we are working together to provide every Carteret student access to books and resources found at their local public library.

WHAT IS STUDENTACCESS?

Beginning in November 2020, all Carteret County students will be able to use their Student ID number to access and borrow public library books and digital resources from NC Live, NC Kids, and Hoopla Digital.

WHAT DOES THIS PROVIDE FOR MY STUDENT?

StudentAccess participants may borrow up to 10 books or audio-books from the Carteret County Public Library collection.

And just like most public library materials, no late fees will be charged for these items. However, replacement costs for lost or damaged items will be assessed.

HOW CAN MY STUDENT ACCESS DIGITAL RESOURCES?

You will use your student's ID just as you would a traditional library card.

You can access a student’s account at any time by logging in with the student identification number and PIN.  The default PIN is the last four digits of the student ID number.

DOES THIS DELETE OR REPLACE MY STUDENT'S PREVIOUS LIBRARY CARD?

Not at all! Your student can still maintain their traditional account, and you are still able to apply for your student to have a traditional library card.

IS THIS A FREE SERVICE?

Yes! Just like any library service, it is free. And just like traditional library accounts, no overdue fines are accrued. But students will be responsible for any fees for lost or damaged books.

HOW DO I SIGN MY STUDENT UP FOR THIS PROGRAM?

All Carteret County Public School Students from Pre-K through grade 12 will automatically be enrolled in the program.

WHAT IF I DON'T WANT MY CHILD TO HAVE A STUDENTACCESS CARD?

No problem! Simply complete the opt out form, and submit it to your local library branch. Your child will be opted out of the program.
