Explore the Universe with Our Orion StarBlast II 4.5 EQ Telescope

Celebrate Star Wars Day by embarking on a real-life star adventure! Carteret County Public Library is excited to offer the Orion StarBlast II 4.5 EQ Telescope for checkout. This program is aimed at encouraging stellar observation and educational enrichment.

What You’ll Discover:

  • Telescope Details: Our Orion StarBlast II 4.5 EQ is a parabolic reflector telescope, ideal for viewing a wide array of celestial bodies, from the moon’s craters to the vibrant bands of Jupiter.

  • Included Accessories: The telescope has a robust set of tools to enhance your viewing experience, including two eyepieces (10mm and 25mm), an EZ Finder reflex sight for easy navigation, and a smartphone camera adapter to capture your discoveries. For those new to astronomy, we also provide a Star Target Planisphere and an Orion MoonMap 260 to help you find and identify heavenly bodies.

Practical Information:

  • Checkout Duration: Available for a one-week loan, with the possibility of renewal up to three times.

  • Eligibility: Patrons 18 and older may check out the telescope directly.

  • Care and Handling: Please handle the telescope and accessories with care. Detailed usage instructions are provided upon checkout to ensure a safe and enjoyable experience.

Returning the Telescope:

When you return the telescope, here’s what our staff will be looking for to ensure it’s ready for the next explorer:

  • Eyepiece: Ensure the eyepiece is clean. Use only a soft cloth for cleaning.

  • Red Dot Finder: Please turn off the red dot finder to save the battery.

  • Accessories: Verify that all accessories are present and accounted for.

  • Damage Check: We will inspect for any mirror or general damage.
